When I met with the Rasmussen's they had a completely bare yard. They requested a wooded and secluded feeling. They also have young children and wanted room for them to play and explore.

This design portrays the local mountains of Southeast Idaho. There are a few fallen logs around the yard trying to imitate a sense of age. I chose to put many evergreens on the southern side to protect from the cold winter winds. I also placed a border around the yard in a variety of evergreens. This gives the family privacy and a sense of a wilderness right outside their front and back doors. I tried to make a sense of depth within these small groves. Many deciduous trees are intertwined within the evergreens to add texture and movement of the eye and in Fall special colors at every turn. I left open grass for the family to play sports or have a picnic. I added a secluded sitting areas for pondering and enjoying the smells and sounds of nature.
